In an effort to bring the St. Louis Design Community together for a cause in 2010, a group of architects, designers, contractors, and sales representatives created a team for the annual Bike MS Gateway Getaway (MS150) charity ride like none other; a team that would be united by design. The goal was to put aside competition among one another and have fun while making new connections, staying physically active and supporting a local charity.
United by Design is now in its fifth year of training for and supporting the Bike MS event. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, potentially disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system. Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new hope to people affected by the disease. As a team, we are riding to raise awareness; as a team, we are riding to find a cure.
In addition to the Bike MS team in 2015, United by Design (UBD) has broadened its efforts of bringing the local St. Louis design community together by riding in the Lupus WolfRide Gran Fondo and expanding into a running team as well. The UBD Running Team will be supporting Go! St. Louis again in April, 2016, for their half and full marathon event. Go! is a non-profit group who is dedicated to bringing healthy lifestyles events to the St. Louis community year round.
The United by Design team is open to anyone related to the design industry, be it architects, interior designers, planners, engineers, contractors, or sales representatives. Family, friends, and all ages and skill levels are welcome! Individuals as well as companies are welcome to join too. If you are not a bike rider or runner, don't worry - you can still help! United by Design is open to silent riders/runners joining who can donate their time and/or funds to support the team.
